A Second Chance
By
Janice Oakes
Six days plus one
To make the sun
To shine on trees,
And fill the seas,
With fish;

And creatures.
Wonderful and weird.
--
The jungle too -
The cockatoo !
Such brilliant hue.
The moon the stars,
To give us light.
Fine birds in flight.
Feathers, Fur, Scales,
...The sight...
--

And God said "Good!
To all he saw.

So He made more,
Something quite different
Than before,
-
A someone
Who would rule it all.

And be like Him,
A holy image,
A God like Mirror.
- but -

The Sweet Reflection became a sinner.
Rebellious Adam! Futile Eve!
And all was Lost,
Save for love's reprieve.
--
The time
was right

And God
was ready
A second Adam. Came so humbly
In full submission, To the cross
so stark. Angels held their breath
And the sky
went dark
At the hour
of His death
A costly
substitute
was made
As the price
for the sin
of the world
was paid.
--
From the chains of the tomb,
Messiah broke loose!
New life from the womb,
Free! to any who choose.

--

A resurrection second chance
To be Children of God

And join the dance
Of joy to the Lord.
--
Creation groans,
But not for long,
When all true sons,
Will sing the song,
Unto the Lamb.
Holy! Worthy! Glorious one!
--
And Gods full plan
Will be revealed,

And heavens door
Will be unsealed,
--
And all the saved
May enter in
To spend forever
With their King
